In order to capture images of water that are significantly different from what is traditionally considered photographic images of water, I had to find a way to document the concept while inviting the viewer into my world and my way of seeing. Inviting the viewer to reassess their relationship with the natural world. In order to do this I had to be open to the visuals that are often unnoticed. By discovering those fleeting ethereal, intangible moments I was able to capture the rare and unseen beauty within the water, conveying the sublime through colour and abstraction. 360-degree photography was a new and exciting addition to my arsenal, bringing a new reality to my photography. The 360-degree image enhances the immersive quality of the images creating feeling of being totally submerged in the water. Generating feelings of otherworldliness or of a distant planet while submerged in liquid. They have an abstract quality and create a new perspective, a new way of looking at water. I experimented with 360-degree and sound to create my first moving image ‘Tobar Mhuire’.
