These images of wild seas were all captured at that moment of twilight when the sun has just gone beyond the horizon, when the light hasn’t vanished, but the colours are subdued, those minutes before the world turns dark and black and white. This muted light gives an imperceptibly coloured hue to the seascapes, sometimes appearing sepia-esque. This subtle light coupled with the motion and rhythm of the sea gave me this painterly water series where sky and sea become mingled and waves crash as if about to engulf one. The lack of colour in the images creates a powerful way to evoke and convey emotions. There is no distraction of colour highlighting texture, light and composition allowing for a deeper emotional connection between the viewer and the image.
