Jo Kimmins is a multi-media artist whose practice is focused on nature, the environment, and, in particular water. Her work is a contemplation and a search for something beyond the visible of the everyday. Pursuing a connection and expression to what is often ethereal, ineffable and sublime. Water has been the unswerving constant at every fragment of our evolution and history. It holds the secret to life and is the vibrating energy that unites us all. Throughout history it has been revered by humans who claim it is a gateway to other worlds, holds healing magical properties and a memory. In order to visualise some of these qualities Kimmins uses a combination of contemplative photographic methods guided by intuition, soundscape recordings above and below the water and microscopic photographic techniques. Her creative process is about finding new ways of perceiving and experiencing water through photographic abstraction capturing unique moments in time that can never return.
